Buy Aptitude; Rent Acronyms

It amazes me to this day that recruiters and companies are still advertising for talent based on initialism matching.

  • 2 years of XML
  • 6 years of Java
  • 4 years of zoological research
  • 12 years of breathing

The software development recruiting process is broken.

Seek attitude and aptitude – not acronyms and accolades.

Trouble is – screening folks based on attitude and aptitude is harder than simple initialism matching. So the lazy folks don’t get to look deeper. Good for me. I get to hire the ┬ádeeper talent.
